What does Datadory deliver from FAO?
Two FAOSTAT datasets in Agricultural & Farm Machinery: Crops and Livestock Products with 4,209,110 rows of annual area harvested, production and yield for 312 items across 244 countries and territories, 1961-2024, and Agricultural Machinery with about 10,700 rows of tractor and equipment stock by country-year, 1961-2009. Both ship with verified field dictionaries.
Can I join the two datasets together?
Yes - that pairing is the point of delivering them as one package. Both key on the same area identifiers and reference years, so output tonnage and installed equipment stock merge on country and year. Note the temporal overlap runs 1961-2009 only; after that the machinery half goes quiet while the crops half continues to 2024.
How fresh are the crop production figures?
Reference years run through 2024 - 64 consecutive years of annual observations, the deepest continuous coverage in this industry slice. One caveat logged at research time: whether the 2025 reference year joins the file on the usual cycle should be checked after FAO's next release, and we flag it rather than assume it.
