Straight answers about International Energy Agency data

How far back do IEA natural gas series reach?

To 1960, annually, under one methodology - spanning pre-liberalization Europe, the oil shocks, the post-Soviet restructuring and the LNG era. OECD members carry complete balances while the world files extend production, total trade and gross inland consumption to about 150 countries.

How many trade partners appear in the IEA gas ledger?

166 origin-and-destination countries in the bilateral trade files, split separately by pipeline and LNG medium. Because both sides of every flow sit in one ledger, an importer's numbers can be checked against an exporter's without any entity-resolution project in between.

Which technologies does the IEA renewables collection cover?

Electricity capacity and generation for hydropower, onshore wind, offshore wind, solar PV in utility-scale and distributed variants, concentrating solar power, bioenergy, geothermal and ocean - plus renewable heat consumption and shares, and transport biofuels including ethanol, renewable diesel, biodiesel and biojet.

Do IEA renewables rows include forecasts?

Yes, out to 2030, in the same row layout as history under an explicit case label: MAIN for the report's central view, ACC for its accelerated case, and Target for stated country ambitions. A single filter separates what happened from what the agency projects.
