Straight answers about N2YO data

How many objects does the N2YO collection cover?

As of August 21, 2026 the live directory tracks 35,103 objects; the structured record states the same universe as roughly 35,000 objects reachable. Both span launches from the start of the catalog to the present, browsable by category, launch date and country of ownership.

What fields accompany each satellite observation?

The directory carries 14 fields per observation: NORAD ID, local time and UTC, latitude and longitude, altitude in kilometers and miles, speed in km/s and mi/s, azimuth, elevation, right ascension, declination and orbital period. The structured record adds element sets, one-second position traces and pass geometry.

Do the two N2YO records duplicate each other?

No - they measure the same catalog differently. The directory holds current-state telemetry per object; the structured record supplies elements to propagate, one-second motion traces and ten-day pass forecasts. Joined on NORAD ID, they give you the present tense and the forecast in one frame.

Can observations be cut to a specific ground location?

Yes. Observer-relative values are parameterized on decimal-degree latitude, longitude and altitude, and the above-horizon search returns objects within 0-90 degrees of a location's zenith across roughly 40 categories including Starlink, OneWeb, Geostationary, GPS Operational and Iridium.
