How do brand and generic products connect?

Through the genericRxcui bridge column, paired with matched strength, dose form and route. RXCUI 262095, the atorvastatin 80 mg oral tablet sold as Lipitor, points straight at 259255, its generic equivalent - which makes therapeutic-equivalence work a join instead of a judgment call.

Does coverage extend beyond US-marketed drugs?

No, and that is by design rather than omission. Concepts exist for products sold in the United States market; international classification enters as ATC attributes riding on US concepts, while products marketed only in Europe or Japan have no rows. Teams needing global product registries pair this corpus with a complementary source.
