What is the difference between the British Survey of Fertiliser Practice and Fertiliser usage on farm?

Different surveys, different units of analysis. The British Survey samples farms annually and reports application by crop and grassland type across Great Britain, reaching back to 1992. Fertiliser usage on farm draws on the Farm Business Survey and measures quantities applied at whole-farm level in England, broken down by farm type and economic output band, with 95% confidence intervals on every estimate.

Does the data cover Scotland and Wales, or only England?

Both. The British Survey of Fertiliser Practice publishes parallel table series for England & Wales, Great Britain and Scotland, so GB-wide work needs no stitching of separate releases. The Farm Business Survey series is England-only but compensates with within-England breakdowns by standard farm type and economic output size band that the GB series does not offer.
