Are these figures country-level or regional aggregates?
Both travel in the same tables. Individual economies sit beside regional composites such as Africa Eastern and Southern and income-group aggregates, all under one record shape with two geography keys per row. Decide whether composite rows belong in your denominators before the first join and the panel behaves; we ship flags so the separation is one filter.
How far back do the series reach?
The telecom indicators are the deepest: the mobile cellular series carries observations from 1976 through 2025, with sibling families starting in the 1960s or 1970s where national reporting allowed. The tobacco prevalence family runs 2000 through 2024, twenty-five annual observations per geography, enough runway for trend work and a full policy cycle.
What do the SH.PRV.SMOK series actually measure?
Current tobacco use among adults as a percentage of the adult population, in three variants: total, female and male. The definition is held constant across all three and traces to the WHO Global Health Observatory collection, so a sex split reads as a genuine partition rather than three surveys disagreeing.
How are missing years handled?
Explicitly. An unreported geography-year arrives as a null value, never as zero and never silently interpolated. Tell us whether you want missingness preserved or bridged against modeled companions - both deliverables are available, and the difference shows up in any per-capita math you build on top.
