The counting rule that decides what your number means
Every figure in the panel obeys one definition, and three clauses of it change how the numbers should be read. The measure counts containers flowing between land and sea in twenty-foot equivalent units; it includes coastal shipping alongside international journeys; and — the clause that matters most — transshipment is booked as two lifts at the intermediate port, once offloaded and once loaded outbound. Empty units are counted with loaded ones.
Consequences follow mechanically.
