Uk Food Hygiene Ratings Data: Dataset Structure and Field Coverage

One record per rated food business establishment, 24 named fields deep. The identity block carries FHRSID (unique across the whole dataset), BusinessName, BusinessType with its BusinessTypeID, four address lines, PostCode and a Geocode latitude/longitude that may be absent where a business operates from a private address.

The rating block holds RatingValue, which runs 0-5 but also accepts status strings - AwaitingPublication, Exempt, and under Scotland's FHIS Pass or Improvement Required instead of numerals, so parsers should treat it as text exactly as the schema types it. RatingKey such as fhrs_5_en-gb encodes scheme and value together, and RatingDate preserves the inspection date so staleness is measurable per business. For FHRS businesses the sub-scores publish too: Scores.Hygiene, Scores.Structural and Scores.ConfidenceInManagement, where lower is better. NewRatingPending flags uploads still inside the notification or appeals window, and RightToReply stores the operator's published response.
