Does any benchmark settle gold in euros?

Yes - and it is the only institutional-grade euro print in the gold slice.

LBMA Precious Metals Prices publishes the gold price twice each business day, administered by ICE Benchmark Administration, through a dynamic chart-and-table widget with a currency selector covering USD, GBP and EUR and AM/PM filters ranging from 1 month to full history. Granularity is exact: one benchmark price per auction, per business day, per currency - so the euro fix lands twice a day, not continuously.

The withdrawal wall matters if you want long euro histories: the World Gold Council notes that historical LBMA Gold Price data was withdrawn from its Goldhub pages at IBA's request as of 18 March 2025.

How do you build your own euro gold series from dollar data?

When no euro-native file fits, analysts assemble one. The deepest raw material is dollar-priced, so the workflow runs four steps:

  1. Pull the dollar base series. Stooq - XAUUSD Historical Gold Data serves daily OHLC rows with change columns, about 15,300 rows in the modern continuous series, paged 40 rows per screen and verified back to March 1793; a weekly interval is selectable. For a shorter window, goldprice.org's 14,065-point daily USD series from 4 January 1973 works as a lighter alternative.
  2. Add the exchange-rate leg. You need EUR/USD over the same dates. Kaggle's CSV demonstrates the shape - one row per trading day carrying the FX rate beside the gold close - and Trading Economics timestamps its gold series back to 3 January 1968 in its structured data if you need the rate history separately.
  3. Align the calendars. Stooq's recent rows are only current to the previous session, and gold trades a different week than some FX sources, so drop unmatched days rather than forward-filling them.
  4. Label the method. A converted close is not the euro fix. State whether you multiplied the dollar spot by an EUR/USD close or matched against the twice-daily LBMA euro print, because the two can differ within a single trading day.

Questions worth asking

Why does a euro gold chart disagree with the dollar chart?

Because they follow different clocks. The LBMA gold price is an auction result struck twice each business day and quoted separately in USD, GBP and EUR, while retail pages stream continuous ticks. A dollar close multiplied by an EUR/USD close lands at a different moment than either, so small gaps are normal.
