Straight answers about US Environmental Protection Agency data

How many chemicals does the CDR collection document?

About 8,650 in the 2024 cycle, covering reporting years 2020 through 2023. Each substance carries standardized parent-company names, site identity down to city, state and latitude-longitude, domestic and import production volumes in pounds, physical forms, worker-exposure ranges, maximum concentration, industrial sector and function codes, and consumer or commercial product categories.

How far back does the Toxics Release Inventory go?

Reporting year 1987. Files run per calendar year through the most recent processed submissions, split into national, federal-facility, tribal-land, state and territory cuts, at roughly 100 fields per row covering on-site releases by pathway, transfers, off-site recycling, energy recovery, treatment and section 8 waste-management totals.

What counts as an industrial gas supplier in GHGRP?

Importers, exporters and producers of industrial gases, filed alongside fluorinated-GHG equipment suppliers and CO2 suppliers within the roughly 8,000 US facilities reporting annually under the program. Datadory's current cut returns 117 importer-side industrial-gas-supplier facilities for reporting year 2023, one row per facility per year with location, NAICS, FRS identifier, subparts and quantities.

Can EPA rows be joined to company or facility files?

Yes, deliberately. CDR carries standardized parent, domestic parent and foreign parent names plus Facility Registry identifiers; TRI pairs TRIFD and FRS ID with facility name and address; GHGRP carries facility ID, FRS ID and NAICS code. Parent-company keys join to corporate registries; facility coordinates join straight into geospatial work.
